Weather

As most know, the weather in New England can be as unpredictable and prone to extremes as anywhere else.
Our season begins in late May when the fishing begins to improve the most. The water is still too cool to swim in, but the fish thrive in it. The weather is generally good with daytime temps in the 60's and 40-50 at night.
June brings the longest days of the year and fishing to its' peak. Daily breezes and lack of breeding areas on our island keep Maine's notorious black fly problem negligible for us. Temperatures rise to the 70's during the day and 50's at night.
July is generally considered the best weather month with daily averages in the 80's and nightly temperatures in the 60's. The lake is ideal for swimming with water temperatures in the mid 70's. The days are long, carefree and peaceful.
August days begin to shorten ever so slightly. The lake is still plenty warm for swimming. The nights are star-studded; it is a favorite time of year to view the Northern Lights from your porch or one of our docks.
September is the favorite month for many of our guests who enjoy the slightly cooler day and evening temperatures. The days are crisp and clear and the evenings perfect for a cozy fire and snuggling under a heavy comforter. The foliage season comes early to our part of the world and even by the middle of the month the trees have begun to show their brilliant colors. Most of our family groups have returned home to school so that September is also a more tranquil time.
